Event Details

June marks the month that the Anza party settled at the Presidio. Archaeologists know from requisition orders to New Spain that the Spanish Colonists in the Presidio were making their own candles. Spanish children probably helped their mothers make candles since it was a large task. This activity brings candle making to life and emphasizes the daily life of children at the Presidio during the Spanish period. Afterward visit the Presidio archaeologists at the excavation site to learn more about how the Spanish lived.
