Care and Create: An Afternoon of Music, Nature & Art | Albany

Come to the magical peninsula known as the Albany Bulb for an afternoon of community, art, stewardship and performance.  We’ll work together on contemplative and collaborative projects, accompanied by live music.

At one special corner of this former construction debris landfill–the spot known as the Amphitheater–we’ll use natural and found materials to create a new understanding of nature, art, and the history of this place.

Free, Public Participatory Event – Limited to 30 participants. Advance RSVP required.

We’ll be working with our hands and hearts to honor, beautify, and call attention to the unique features and history of the site.

Laura Inserra will make music using a variety of wind and percussion instruments, moving among the participants and collaborating sonically with the ongoing visual creative process. Zach Pine will play a similar role in the visual realm, moving among participants and offering sculptural collaborative invitations.

The site already offers a rich foundation for community creativity, including hand-made seating areas, a stone-bordered labyrinth, and a three-dimensional mural made from found objects.
