Ruraq Maki will be celebrating their 3rd Annual Silent Auction and Fundraiser on Sunday, July 20th, 2014 at the Women’s Building (Auditorium) in San Francisco. Join up from 5:30-8:30 pm for live entertainment, Anchor Steam Brewery Summer Brew on tap, and wine from local vineyards. Traditional Peruvian food will also be served. This event is a great way to connect with others in your community, give back and support poor and marginalized women in Peru and Bolivia.
The event will be free, but you know you’ll feel better if you give, so donations are encouraged, or get something for giving by shopping in the silent auction.
Be sure to get there early for live music and dance, starting at 5:30 pm and to check out the beautiful, fair trade and handmade items created by the women of Ruraq Maki. Proceeds from this event will support Ruraq Maki’s educational program, allowing them to offer workshops to help improve skills for incarcerated women in Peru and rural female weavers in Bolivia.
Ruraq Maki is a nonprofit organization creating economic opportunities for female artisans working with traditional crafts, helping them earn a sustainable income locally and globally. Currently, they operate the Yanamilla Prison Project for incarcerated women in Peru and Mano Independientes for rural female weavers in Bolivia.
