Peak of Fall Colors at SF Botanical Garden | Golden Gate Park
The fall color is at its peak right now at San Francisco Botanical Garden … we’re told this should last just only 2 weeks. Weather looks good for a while, but bets are off if it rains, so folks should get out there soon if they want to see it.
While the color of the leaves in San Francisco will never be confused for Vermont in fall, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a nice show to take in a few pockets of the Bay Area and the Garden offers one of the nicest in the city when its Moon Viewing Garden and Temperate Asia Garden begin to turn.
In the Moon Viewing Garden, stepping stones lead down a small stream to the banks of a quiet and still pond surrounded by Japanese maple trees, at their autumn best right now. Visitors can step out over the water on a wooden deck to immerse themselves in the mosaic of reddening leaves overhead.
Visitors can also admire the blaze of the golden Ginko biloba trees and Chinese tulip trees in the Temperate Asia collection. There are other nice splashes of color throughout the 55 acre Garden right now too, including at the Great Meadow, Redwood Grove and beyond.
