About Michael Pollan

Michael Pollan is the author of seven previous books, including CookedFood RulesIn Defense of FoodThe Omnivore’s Dilemma and The Botany of Desire, all of which were New York Times bestsellers. A longtime contributor to the New York Times Magazine, he also teaches writing at Harvard and the University of California, Berkeley where he is the John S. and James L. Knight Professor of Science Journalism. In 2010, Time magazine named him one of the one hundred most influential people in the world.

About the Moderator

Matt Simon is a science writer at Wired magazine, where he specializes in robotics, biology, and the environment. He is the author of the Wasp That Brainwashed the Caterpillar, as well as the forthcoming book The Plight of the Living Dead: What Real-Life Zombies Reveal About Our World—and Ourselves (Penguin, October 2018).
