Event Details

“Cinema Across Media: The 1920s” is the first international Berkeley conference on silent cinema, taking place at the Pacific Film Archive and at the Berkeley Art Museum.

The conference will be accompanied by a series of silent film screenings with live musical accompaniment. Although participants will purchase cheap tickets for film screenings, the conference itself is free and open to the public.

Major international scholars will present during concurring panels on a variety of topics, from technology, to architecture, to multimedia practice and performance. There will be plenty of occasions for discussion, and we believe that this conference will facilitate the collaboration between UC Berkeley and the whole Bay Area community.

Events are at both the Berkeley Art Museum (2621 Durant Avenue) and the Pacific Film Archive (2575 Bancroft Way).
