Join biologists from the Wildlife Society and naturalists from the Rotary Nature Center & California Center for Natural History to learn about studying bird populations. As winter birds migrate through Oakland, bird censuses & point counts are ways to gather information about the overall health of populations and predict changes over time. If you’re interested in learning how to collect relevant data about the birds in your area, come and join us for this introduction to two different techniques used in citizen science!
Bring a pencil, a notebook, and binoculars & a bird guide if you have them. California Center for Natural History will provide binoculars & some bird guides to borrow.
This event will be canceled if there is heavy rain the day of the program. This event is free but please RSVP to oaklandnature@gmail.com.
