150-Year-Old Brewery Back in SF for First Time Since 1920
When we got word that a new brewery was opening in SoMa, we thought, “cool!”
But then we read on SF Standard that this isn’t just any old brewery. Well, it IS an old brewery. Enterprise Brewing Co., which celebrates its grand opening on August 5, 2023 (with weekly parties every Saturday for the rest of August) is actually kind of coming back from the dead for the first time since prohibition shut it down.
According to the SF Standard, “The original Enterprise Brewing Co. opened in 1873 in a Mission alleyway about eight blocks away from its current location. It survived the devastating 1906 earthquake before the 18th Amendment forbidding the consumption and sale of alcohol shut it down in 1920.”
The new tap room at 1150 Howard Street, opens this Saturday at 1pm with music started at 5pm and open until 9pm with DJs, a food pop-up and a drinks lineup of Pilsner, Lager, Copper Ale, Pale Ale, IPA, and Porter.
