24ft Big Waves Coming to Bay Area Beaches
Thanks to SFGate for tipping us off that big swells are expected to pound the shores along the Central Coast on Friday.
A big storm coming down from Alaska into the Bay Area is expecting to bring big waves to Bay Area beaches.
The National Weather Service issues a High Surf Advisory for Friday at 2 pm through 10 am on Saturday morning. Large breakers are expected from Sonoma down to Big Sur.
Take note that large shoreline breaking waves can injure beachgoers. National Weather Service warns that “enhanced wave runup on the beaches can catch people off guard and knock them over or pull them into the cold, turbulent ocean.”
A large northwest swell arrives FRI and will transition southward along the coast through SAT morning.
The main impacts will be a) large breaking waves of 18-24′ & b) enhanced coastal runup due to gusty onshore winds at the back of the waves on shallower summer beach profiles pic.twitter.com/3p4gHehfJA
