Welcome back to the movies!

Founded in 1957, the 65th San Francisco International Film Festival (the longest-running film festival in the Americas) is back in person kicking off on April 21 with the North American Premiere of Stay Awake starring Chrissy Metz.

Enjoy over 130 films and events from 56 counties and 16 world premieres at the Castro Theatre, the Vogue Theater, the Roxie Theater, the Victoria Theatre, and BAMPFA in Berkeley.

Programs include two star-studded Tributes—actor and comedian Jenny Slate along with a preview screening of her new, heartwarming film Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, and cinematic icon Michelle Yeoh in conversation with Emmy-nominated actor Sandra Oh.

Closing Night features the Sundance favorite Cha Cha Real Smooth starring Dakota Johnson, coming in person for the Q&A. Special events include 32 Sounds by filmmaker Sam Green in performance with JD Samson, a special retrospective screening of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, family-friendly short films, and a celebration of the Castro and SF Opera’s 100 year anniversaries with a screening of  Land of Gold and a performance by the Adler Fellows.
