$400k Raised for Asian Grandmother Who Beat Back Her Attacker
Thanks to CBS Bay Area for sharing the news story about an elderly woman was allegedly attacked on Market Street on Wednesday, March 17, the latest in a horrible string of attacks against Asian Americans.
This time, grandmother Xiao Zhen Xie bravely fought back and sent her alleged assailant to the hospital. Sadly, she also suffered injuries, and was taken to the hospital for treatment for injuries sustained to her face and her eye.
So far more than $410,000 has been raised by more than 14,000 donors on a GoFundMe page for Ms. Xie set up by John Chen, who says he is her grandson. According to the GoFundMe page, she suffered two serious black eyes and has been severely affected mentally, physically, and emotionally. She is a cancer survivor and has diabetes. The funds will be used to cover her medical expenses, her therapy treatment, and her ongoing bills.
