AMC to Offer 15¢ Movie Tickets (But Not in California)
AMC is reopening 100 movie theaters across the country (but none in California) on Thursday, August 20th and will be selling 15¢ movie tickets on re-opening day to try to lure people back inside. Seating capacity will be significantly reduced.
Another 300 locations will open in the following two weeks (again, none planned for California) and will feature a bunch of throwback movies (Inception, Black Panther, Back to the Future, etc.) with $5 tickets plus $5 food and drink deals. New releases will be at normal admission prices.
Movie Theaters Still Closed by Statewide: Indoor movie theaters are still prohibited from opening in the state of California. When movie theaters are allowed to reopen, they will be limited to 25% of theater capacity or a maximum of 100 attendees, whichever is lower.
Although it’s possible that AMC will offer 15¢ movie tickets again, currently their press release states it’s only for the 100 theaters opening on August 20th.
