Assuming there are clear skies, there’s a great treat for skywatchers this Tuesday that doesn’t involve any crowds. It’s the biggest “Super Moon” of 2020 lighting up the night during these difficult times.

So skywatchers, when will this supermoon emerge? On April 7th, the moon will be full at 7:35 pm PST and the full moon in April is the closest and largest supermoon of the year, according to EarthSky.

Will it actually be pink? Probably not. It will likely be its usual golden color near the horizon and then fade to white as it glides overhead. It’s simply called the “pink” moon because its the first full moon of Spring. Read more.

The best time to observe the supermoon is when the moon is near the horizon during either moonrise or moonset, thanks to having objects in the foreground (like buildings or trees) to provide reference points for estimating the moon’s size. Moonrise on April 7th is at 7:28pm just a few minutes before the moon is at it’s fullest
