Bay Area Schools Now Closed Until Fall (At Least)

Nearly 1 million kids won’t return to the classroom for the 2019-2020 academic year

Due to the continuing risk of COVID-19, six Bay Area counties have announced their schools will remain closed for the rest of the academic year – extending the initial closure date of May 1st. So for the 2019-2020 school year, campuses are now officially closed for in-person instruction until the fall.

The Mercury News tells us that the officials made the announcement on Tuesday that nearly 1 million children will not return to classrooms before the fall in Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Marin, San Mateo and San Francisco counties.
