“Bonfire Sessions”: Free Best Coast Concert

The 2014 JanSport Bonfire Sessions are returning to San Francisco for a night of performances by Best Coast, Sonny & The Sunsets, and Meatbodies while you enjoy free frosty beverages (beer, we’re assumming) at SoMa StrEat Food Park on Saturday, October 4, 2014.

Now they call this a “bonfire” session (their past tours have included bonfires with free s’mores), but given crazy permitting issues in SF and the fact that it’s at a food park, you probably shouldn’t expect anything more than hobo fire barrels at best.

2014 Jansport Bonfire Sessions – San Francisco Lineup:

• Best Coast is a fuzzy, buzzy lo-fi band that sings about dank, California, boys, and kitty cats.
• Sonny & the Sunsets’ busted beach-pop songs spark recollections of doo wop’s otherworldly despair, a dose of goofball humor from the Michael Hurley school, and positive possibilities exuded by Jonathan Richman.
• Chad And The Meatbodies was the sexploratory buzz-pop project of Chad Ubovich, bassist/guitarist for Mikal Cronin and FUZZ. Somewhere between the speedy trash-riffing of the Marked Men and mid-Hives hook-churning, Meatbodies also lets psychly echoes seep out of their brief blasts.

In past years, attendees had the chance to win JanSport backpacks that were flung into the crowd and limited edition silk screen posters; we hope they have some goodies in store for 2014.
