Borders Liquidation Sale
It happened to Tower Records a few years ago and now the deal vultures will get to pick over Borders.
One of the book selling giants of the 1990s is going out of business – Borders Books will be closing all 259 of their superstores (along with Borders Express and Walden book) in the next few weeks.
So starting Friday July 22nd, the liquidation sale begins. Merchandise will initially be up to 40% off (along with store fixtures, furnishings being sold as well).
Beware of overpriced “sale” items: we’ve had some reports that items initially are being discounted as low as 10% off the full list price of books. Which is actually probably more expensive than had you bought things at their normally discounted price just a few days ago.
According to the SF Examiner, liquidation sales can last up to two months and discounts typically get steeper as the weeks move on, although good merchandise gets scarcer and the good books will be long gone.
