Brand New Chick-fil-A Opens in Bay Area
Thanks to SF Gate for letting us know that Chick-fil-A’s newest Bay Area restaurant just opened in Redwood City this week on July 23rd
The location, at 536 Whipple Ave, Redwood City, is open currently for drive thru and takeout and is open Monday through Saturday, 6:30am to 10pm. Like many Chick-fil-A’s, there were very long lines at the drive thru on opening day.
SF Gate reports that there was initially controversy about the location, led by outspoken San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa due to the company’s past opposition to same-sex marriage and LGBT issues.
But Capena backed off his opposition after the company announced it would cease donating to anti-LGBT groups such as the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and would start donating to combat homelessness and hunger including a $25,000 donation to a local food bank
