New California Garlic Festival Launches in Stockton (Aug. 13-14)
Sadly, the world-renown Gilroy Garlic Festival, that been a mainstay since the late 1970s, announced in April that it’s hung up its garlic for the last time. However, a brand new garlic festival has emerged dedicated to all things garlic.
Hosted by the same organizers as the Annual Asparagus Festival, the California Garlic Festival will be held on Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14 from noon to 7 p.m. at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.
The two-day event will feature its very own Garlic Alley with delicious dishes such as Garlic Fries, Garlic Pesto Pasta, Garlic Mushroom and Onion Bread Bowls. But wait, it doesn’t stop there, they will be serving up a Maple Brown Sugar Garlic Ice Cream.
We have something for everyone! Activities to enjoy while attending the California Garlic Festival will be the Show and Shine Car display with hot rods, low riders and muscle cars, cooking demonstrations featuring local chefs, local entertainment performing on the community stage, the Miss California Garlic Festival Scholarship Pageant, monster truck rides, petting zoo, photography contest showcasing local photographers, a carnival full of rides, games and more!
Plenty of seating will be available throughout the venue to enjoy music and scrumptious dishes. Attendees may choose many garlic dishes from festival food vendors who are required to sell at least one garlic menu item. There will also be a variety of vendor booths to shop at, including arts & craft vendors and local small businesses.
