Dolores Park’s South Hill: Final Weekend

Your last chance to sunbathe with amazing views for the next 6 months

The good news? The north half of Dolores Park is re-opening after months of construction. The bad news? The south side is getting ready for its makeover and is about to close for 6 months. That means no more suntanning with amazing views of downtown.

Get ready as the fences are going up and the south half the park will be closed until early 2016.

The northern side of Dolores Park (with tennis courts & the hipster hangout area) is re-opening on June 18, 2015. But on the very same day, the fences will get moved to the southern side (with Gay Beach) and will be closed for 6-8 months. The playground will remain open throughout the construction.

  • What’s changing in the South?: Expect new bathrooms dug into the hillside (13 stalls up from 4), new drainage so that there’s fewer mud pits, and a pisoir – yes, they are going to build an outdoor urinal up by 20th and Church so that people waiting for Muni don’t pee in the street or the bushes.

So make sure you get your fill of the north side of the park with the amazing views of downtown.

Dolores Park 2015/2016 Closing Schedule

  • Phase I: Northern side re-opens June 18, 2015
  • Phase II: Southern side closure (Begins June for 6-8 months)
  • Target completion date: Early 2016
