Berkeley Public Library has released a brand new card for viral Star Librarian Mychal Threets

Viral sensation Mychal Threets is a former Solano County librarian who rose to fame through his joyous posts about the library, sharing stories about positive library encounters, library kids, book recommendations and library joy. Now, the uplifting PBS Kids’ resident librarian, is getting his own library card.

Thanks to SF Chronicle for sharing the news that the Berkeley Public Library is releasing a limited edition Mychal Threets library card featuring his iconic hair and wide smile. The special edition library card is vibrant, like Threets, and reads “Library Love is Revolutionary” across the front.

For a longtime, the library only had one option for its design, but now patrons will have a choice. In addition to the new Threets card, more special edition cards are coming including 5 designed by local Berkeley artists. Patrons must visit the library in person to sign up for a library card, and no worries if you already have the standard-issue card; you’re welcome to upgrade to a special edition one… for free, of course, because that’s #librarylove.
