Look up in the sky when you hear the roaring of jet engines and head down to SF’s northern waterfront and Dogpatch for San Francisco’s annual Fleet Week airshow and festival.

Much more than just the Blue Angels, this yearly festival and celebration of military power typically features a full airshow with a 747, Coast Guard rescue demonstrations, plus Navy ship tours, live music, a parade of ships underneath the Golden Gate Bridge, and tons more.

The big air shows take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday (with a special Blue Angels practice and fly-overs). Active naval vessels are docked along the Port of San Francisco along the piers with free tours throughout the week.

From October 7-9, 2016, 10 am to 5 pm, check out the Humanitarian Assistance Village on the Marina Green, an interactive demonstration of U.S. Military and Civil capabilities in responding to a disaster including: Mass Care and Shelter, Power and Utilities, Community Response & Rescue, and Environmental Management & Decontamination. There’s a Passport scavenger hunt with prizes.
