Is a Pop-Up “Floating Cinema” Coming To SF This Fall?
Thanks to Alt105.3 for letting us know that a floating cinema is coming to San Francisco for a week in September.
UPDATE – According to SF Weekly and Orlando Weekly it appears this event is probably not real.
After recently debuting in Paris, a socially-distant floating cinema is coming to SF. It will be set up in an undisclosed location in the San Francisco Bay from the week of September 2nd to 6th. The floating cinema will be made up of 12 to 24 mini boats, holding up to 8 people per boat.
The cost, films and exact location have yet to be released. In addition to San Francisco, “Floating Cinema” is scheduled for LA, Denver, New York, Miami, San Diego for a total of 19 cities in the U.S. and Canada.
Sign up and be the first to hear about ticket sales
Cinema-goers will be required to purchase a ticket for the whole boat to ensure that groups will be seated with friends and family only. This will allow for social distancing on and between boats. Enjoy a mix of classic & modern films and exact films will be announced when tickets go up for sale. There will be free popcorn for everyone attending, and other movie snacks and drinks will be available to purchase before you set sail.
