OK, this is an odd one… but they may just be on to something.

Free Money Day” is a decentralized global “event” on September 15, 2012 in which people hand out their own money to complete strangers (either two coins or two bills at a time), asking recipients to pass half of the amount on to someone else.

The goal is raise awareness and start conversations about the benefits of more sharing economies, people will hand out their own coins, two at a time, asking people to pass one on to someone else.

Give it a shot, the organizers say and try to hand out some money to a complete stranger and ask them to pass it on, “It’s a liberating opportunity to explore our attachments to money and encourage more sharing economies.” We hope this works!
