Free Night of Theater 2011
If you think seeing live theater in San Francisco is too expensive (and it sure can be) then the annual “Free Night of Theater 2011” festival just might be the answer to your theatrical prayers.
Every year, Free Night of Theater gives away thousands of free theater tickets in the month of October to let you see your choice of over 50 productions in San Francisco and the entire Bay Area.
Participating companies include ACT, the Berkeley Rep, California Shakespeare Theater, even Beach Blanket Babylon, but you’re encouraged to find shows that you haven’t been to before so you can use this opportunity to explore what the Bay Area scene has to offer. [How Free Night of Theater works]
Enter the ticket lottery between September 9-23 (and you have to fill out a rather intrusive online form) – but in exchange you’ll get a chance to win up to five free pair of tickets to your favorite productions and if you win you’ll be off the theater in October for free! Winners will be notified by September 30th.

What does this code do? It increases your chances in the lottery – essentially, it weights your entries, so that they float up to the top so you have a better chance of getting your first choice of show. Still no guarantees, of course, but it increases your odds! And people who have already logged on can go back into their ID’s and add the code anytime before 9/23.
