San Francisco Botanical Garden is getting a brand new plant nursery which will open in Spring 2022.
They just released the renderings of the new plant nursery and gave a brief announcement on Facebook:
After years of hard work, a new plant nursery is finally underway at the Botanical Garden. Scheduled to open in Spring 2022, the new complex will be approximately 34,000 square feet. It will enable us to fulfill our vital role as a world-class Botanical Garden, in service to the public while also supporting global conservation efforts.
The new facility will allow us to:
- Welcome plants from other institutions and care for rare, endangered, and unique species
- Implement best practices for plant propagation and overall nursery operations
- Improve safety and workflow to support our dedicated staff, horticultural team, and volunteers
- Modernize our retail operation to offer noteworthy plants not commercially available
- Enhance maintenance, security, and efficiency with centralized storage for equipment, tools, materials, and vehicles used throughout the Garden
Thank you in advance for your patience during this process and we look forward to sharing the bounty of this new facility in the coming years.
