Macy’s Great Tree in Union Square, San Francisco’s most recognized Christmas tree stands more than 83-feet tall, decorated with more than 33,000 twinkling energy-efficient LED lights and 1,100 shining ornaments, will be officially lit on Friday, November 23, 2018.

Tree lighting takes place at approximately 6:50pm

Attendees can look forward to musical performances by Oscar, Grammy winner & Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Darlene Love performing music from her Christmas albums, including Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). Also performing will be students from American Conservatory Theater’s renowned Young Conservatory. Also performing on the stage will be the San Francisco Boys Chorus, Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir and the cast of Mary Poppins from the San Francisco Playhouse.

For Best Viewing
For the best viewing, get there really early, or head up to the balcony off of the Cheesecake Factory in the Macy’s building and see the view from above. The ceremony is expected to begin at 6pm and the tree is scheduled to be lit around 6:50 pm.

Those inspired by the Macy’s Great Tree in Union Square can visit the festive Holiday Lane on the seventh floor of Macy’s Union Square to see the lavishly decorated Christmas trees, thousands of ornaments and other embellishments for the home.
