How to Get Married at City Hall During SF Pride (Updated for 2023)
Ten years after California first resumed same-sex marriages, 250 couples will wed in a special LGBTQ+ Pride marriage celebration at City Hall.
San Francisco City Hall is throwing the wedding shindig of the year, smack dab in the middle of the Pride festivities! In a salute to the City’s vibrant LGBTQ+ history and culture, City Administrator Carmen Chu and the County Clerk’s Office are throwing open the City Hall doors for all the lovebirds ready to make it official.
On Friday, June 23, 2023 ahead of the world-famous SF Pride Parade and Celebration, the Office of the County Clerk will marry 250 couples in a festive celebration of San Francisco’s LGBTQ+ history and culture. Couples will receive commemorative Pride marriage licenses and Pride pins and will take photos in a photo booth in the North Light Court of City Hall.
Ceremonies will run from approximately 9am to 3:30pm and the public is welcome to watch.
City Hall (specifically, North Light Court) will be decked out with Pride-themed backdrops, photo booth and decorations to aid in the celebrations of couples tying the knot. Plus, the souvenir marriage licenses are going to have that special Pride touch – imagine that keepsake hanging on your wall!
It’s not the first time our County Clerk’s Office has stood on the right side of love. They’ve been at the forefront, issuing the first same-sex marriage license back in 2004, and then, in 2013, keeping the office open all weekend to accommodate the rush of love-struck couples after the Supreme Court put the kibosh on the state’s same-sex marriage ban.
