Amazon’s New Huge Fulfillment Center Comes to Bay Area
Amazon is opening a brand new 150,000 sqft. fulfillment center in east Contra Costa County in the city of Oakley.
The City of Oakley announced that Amazon will be the first tenant of the new Contra Costa Logistics Center Complex which will have five buildings, totaling 2 million-square-feet, will house a variety of light industrial and logistics uses, providing nearly 2,000 jobs to the community. The complex is expected to be completed in 4 years.
The complex is being built on the former DuPont chemical plant land, which closed in 1998. The city has planned for the development of the site since 2002. Oakley mayor Kevin Romick is excited that the center will be a major economic hub for the region.
A formal announcement and ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 7th.
