Napa County First in Bay Area to Allow Opening of Barbershops & Salons
Thank you SF Gate for letting us know that there is only one Bay Area county (so far) that is allowing the reopening hair salons after Governor Newsom’s announcement. The city of San Francisco is not yet opening
As of today, only Napa County has modified its stay-at-home order to give barbershops and hair salons approval to open their doors. They must follow the guidelines such as social distancing, wearing face masks, and frequent hand-washing.
Solano and Sonoma Counties are probably next
Solano and Sonoma already filed their “county variance attestations” and are eligible to reopen more quickly than the rest of the state but they are not ready to take the next step due to an uptick in new cases and hospitalizations. Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara haven’t yet applied for regional variances and aren’t able to consider opening hair salons.
47 of the 58 counties in California have qualified for regional variances which allow dine-in restaurants to reopen and personal services like barbershops and salons to reopen. Unfortunately, only counties that have gone through an attestation process can reopen and San Francisco is among the counties not moving into Phase 2.5 yet.
The other counties, in addition to the Bay Area, that have not yet moved into Phase 2.5 are Contra Costa, Imperial, Los Angeles, Marin, Monterey, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, and Tulare counties.
