Oakland Coliseum Could Be Mass COVID Vaccine Site in February
Although a formal announcement has yet to be made, KRON4 is reporting that following days of speculation, the Oakland Coliseum could become a mass coronavirus vaccination site as soon as February.
The county’s board of commissioners voted Friday to create a task force to oversee the transition. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the final decision on whether or not the stadium could be used as a vaccination site lies with the Alameda County Public Health Department and that a final decision has yet to be announced.
Oakland Athletics President Dave Kaval said the 155-acre complex, currently known as RingCentral Coliseum, could start vaccinations as soon as February and “possibly sooner.”
Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles opened as a mass vaccination site today, with the goal of eventually being able to vaccinate 12,000 people a day.
