Oakland’s New “Free Food” Fridges
A network of fridges with free food are popping up around Oakland.

Thanks to The Bold Italic for letting us know about the Oakland Town Fridges.
Spreading love all over The Town, Town Fridge offers a network of free food fridges around Oakland.
You can take what you need and leave what you can. The Town Fridges are currently located at:
- Pro Arts Gallery in Downtown (inside the gallery)
- Broadway & 15th Street in Downtown
- 30th Linden in West Oakland
- 16th Street in West Oakland
- 14th Street in West Oakland
- 59th Street in North Oakland
- and more to come
Please follow their guidelines, and when you visit a fridge. Treat these fridges like your own: produce goes in the produce bin to keep it fresh, group cooked meals together, and give it a quick wipe when you stop by. These fridges are by and for the community which means this is everyone’s resource and everyone’s responsibility.
