Any day can be a holiday, and so for math nerds and pie lovers, March 14th is an extra special mathematical date.
Pi (aka π) is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter which comes out to roughly 3.14. So March 14th has been dubbed “Pi Day”- a quirky and fun celebratory day of both Pi (and pie) which was actually popularized right here in San Francisco back in 1988.

The celebration that started them all, the Exploratorium was the home of the first large scale Pi celebration in 1988. And in 2014 you can enjoy free admission to the Exploratorium with pi lectures, pie tasting, a pizza pie tossing and you can take your (decimal) place in the seemingly never-ending Pi parade. Pi Day activities from 1pm to 3:30pm.
