Pop Mart’s Viral “Labubu” Toy Store Coming to SF’s Union Square

Designer Chinese toy shop opens in Pleasanton with new shop coming to San Francisco later in 2025

Hyped Chinese toy shop Pop Mart store is heading to Union Square later this year, bringing one of the world’s fastest-growing toy brands to the heart of downtown San Francisco.

Best known for its collectible vinyl figures like Labubu and Skullpanda, Pop Mart is a Chinese toy company that’s made a name for itself with its “blind box” model — shoppers don’t know which character design they’re getting until they open the box. The figures, which retail for around $28, have built a cult following across age groups and often turn into high-value collectibles.

The Union Square location is expected to open in the “late third quarter” of 2025, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. It will join other Bay Area Pop Mart outposts at Valley Fair, Stonestown Galleria, and, most recently, Pleasanton’s Stoneridge Shopping Center, which quietly opened at the end of June.

As downtown San Francisco continues to see changes in retail, Pop Mart’s upcoming Union Square shop adds to the list of brands setting up shop in the area.

Thanks to SF Gate for the scoop.
