Pranksters Turn Empty SF Google Office into Spirit Halloween Store
Thanks to SF Gate and KRON4 for letting us know how prank artist Danielle Baskin converted an empty Google Office in SoMa in SF into what looked like a brand new “Spirit Halloween” store on Monday afternoon.
Led by prank artist Danielle Baskin, a group of 11 set out to make it look like the entrance of the Google Office on Embarcadero at Folsom was being turned into a Spirit Halloween store, complete with a large sign, “We’re Hiring” posters, construction signs and cones making it look like they were getting ready to move it.
The prank lasted long enough to take photos and after two hours Google’s security team arrived to take away the signs
Spirit stores tend to take over empty real estate for a few months in the lead up to Halloween. Baskin told SF Gate that the prank was done as a laugh but also wanted to bring attention to all of the empty storefronts and unused real estate in San Francisco. “It’s just a joke to point out all the empty space that sits here,” said Baskin

This real estate is in a great location and it’s sitting there empty. Had to jump on the opportunity. Join us! (Sorry, again for the appearance while we remodel.) 👻🚧 pic.twitter.com/0kWMnNF2ka
