The “Robin Williams” Rainbow Tunnel is Official
The newly-dubbed “Robin Williams” tunnel is finally official.
The $3,000 signs – on on each side of the tunnel connecting Marin to the Golden Gate Bridge – were paid for using private donations. The signs were installed overnight on February 29th and officially went into service on 101 on March 1st.
The tunnel’s new name (previously unofficially known as the “Waldo Tunnel”) is meant as a dedication to the late Bay Area comedian’s life as the rainbow border seemed like a natural reminder of the multi-colored suspenders from his “Mork & Mindy” show.
