Big free outdoor festival Tuesday night with tap dancing xmas trees, parade & free treats

Bundle up, and bring your family and friends listen to music, and kick-off the holiday season with the San Francisco Civic Center Plaza Tree Lighting.

Host Honey Mahogany will emcee the night of entertainment, which includes performances by vocalist and X-Factor finalist Jason Brock; a cappella glee club Scales of the City, San Francisco A Cappella; The Tap Dancing Christmas Trees; and members of Boxcar Theatre’s Speakeasy, such as Nick A. Olivero, who will lead a Christmas parade of children to the event.

Christmas VIPs such as The Great Dickens Christmas Fair’s Coventry Carolers, Charles Dickens, Mr. Scrooge, the Ghost of Christmas Present, Sam Weller, the Grinch, and the man-of-the-hour — Santa himself — will also be in attendance. Members of The Speakeasy’s six-piece house band will also perform.

As in years past, the San Francisco Police Department will lead a toy giveaway for kids 12 years old and younger, and offer free popcorn and candy canes. Noe Valley’s Homestead Cookies and hot beverages, including Irish Coffee and hot chocolate, will be available for purchase.

The event is sponsored by the Civic Center Community Benefit District, San Francisco Police Department’s Northern Station, San Francisco Public Works, San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department, Another Planet Entertainment, and Civic Center Commons.
