Thanks to KRON4 for sharing the details about the San Francisco Unified School District’s return to in-person learning, after the the schools have closed for a year now due to the ongoing pandemic.

KTVU reports that initially the reopening of in-person learning will be restricted to San Francisco’s “focal populations”  i.e. newcomer students, foster youth, students in public housing, homeless students and students who have shown limited online engagement.

  • Middle school and high school students will begin to return to school April 26.
  • Elementary students will begin to return to campus starting April 12.

It’s unclear when all students may return to campus.

The new plan to return to campus comes just two days after a judge said he would decide soon whether to grant a preliminary injunction the city attorney who recently sought legal action against the district to force the schools to return to in-person learning.

“We are on track to reopen dozens of schools for in-person learning beginning April 12, 2021. SFUSD has released an updated Return Safely Together Plan which contains additional details regarding how the district will offer in-person learning options at a select number of schools for the district’s students. Based on family responses to date, we expect to serve over 20,000 students in person by the end of April.”

Some schools are scheduled to return to in-person learning on April 12, April 19, and April 26. Look up the timelines for each school.
