Mayor London Breed took to Twitter to announce that San Francisco’s cable cars will be back this year.
On Wednesday, SFMTA followed up stating that the first line will be back in the fall of 2021. “Cable car service will return on the Powell-Hyde line, between Market Street and Fisherman’s Wharf, first this fall — ahead of the holiday season.”
People have been asking whether the cable cars will be able to return as we emerge from COVID-19.
Cable cars are a part of the fabric of San Francisco. They draw tourists, they help our economy, and I’m not going to let them just disappear.
