SF’s Annual Easter In the Park & Hunky Jesus Contest 2026

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence’s annual Easter bash returns to Dolores Park on April 5, 2026

San Francisco’s most delightfully irreverent Easter tradition is back. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are taking over the north end of Mission Dolores Park on Sunday, April 5, 2026, for their annual Easter in the Park celebration, and yes, it’s as chaotic, joyful, and fabulous as you’ve been hoping.

Festivities kick off at 10 am with Children’s Easter, featuring egg hunts, games, and plenty of photo ops with the Easter Bunny. By noon, the main stage celebration begins with drag performances, live entertainment, and campy, joyful stage show antics as the park fills with music, color, and crowds soaking up the sunshine and spectacle. Hosting the shenanigans are Sister Roma, Peaches Christ, and Honey Mahogany, with performances by Flamy Grant, Per Sia, Papi Churro, Xochitl, Grace Towers, KaiKai Bee Michaels, and Alotta Boutte.

And of course, no Easter in Dolores Park is complete without the contests. The legendary Easter Bonnet, Foxy Mary, and Hunky Jesus competitions start in the afternoon. Hunky Jesus usually hits around 3 pm. Anyone can enter, but plan to go solo as groups are discouraged, and bring your cleverest, sassiest persona. Pre-screening happens backstage, and finalists head onstage for audience judging where applause or laughter decides who reigns supreme.

This is a free event, but the Sisters always appreciate donations to keep the party running and support their year-round community grants. Expect big crowds, limited parking options, and plenty of bikes and strollers. Walking, biking, or public transit is the way to go. Muni Metro J line, the 33, 22, and a handful of bus routes will get you there without the parking drama.

While kids will have a blast early on, a heads-up: the later part of the day is adult-flavored irreverence. Nudity and profanity are prohibited, but the Sisters’ trademark sass and chaos may not be toddler-friendly. Pack your trash, respect the park, and maybe bring a friend who can appreciate a little sacred nonsense.

If you’ve never been, consider this your invitation to join the fun, watch Hunky Jesus strut his stuff, and soak up a San Francisco tradition that is equal parts joy, irreverence, and community love.
