San Francisco’s free outdoor movie tradition is back with a full season for 2026. The Sundown Cinema series has just announced its lineup, bringing family-friendly films to parks across the city from June through October.

After a scaled-back return in 2025, the full program is back this year. The long-running outdoor movie series was largely paused last year due to financial challenges, with only a limited number of screenings taking place. The newly announced schedule marks a return to a more traditional season of free movie nights across San Francisco parks.

Presented by Amazon and hosted by The San Francisco Standard, screenings will take place in neighborhoods across the city, with events set in popular waterfront and park locations.

All screenings are free and open to the public, with movies beginning around sunset. The events typically draw large crowds, so arriving early is recommended to secure a good spot. Guests are welcome to bring blankets and low-back chairs, and outside food and drinks are generally permitted, subject to park rules.

Attendees can RSVP in advance for a chance to win access to a reserved seating section near the screen. One lucky winner at each screening will also receive their Amazon Wish List, valued up to $1,000.
