SF’s Goats Chow Down Your Leftover Christmas Tree
Local Goats “Pine” “Fir” Post Holiday Feast
Instead of leaving your old Xmas tree out on the curb, or burned on the beach, bring them to a place where they’ll be devoured by goats, the adorable garbage disposals of the animal kingdom.
City Grazing, a company that specializes in bringing goats to small properties to clear brush and weeds for fire prevention, is partnering with the San Francisco Fire Department for their second annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program.
Apparently, Christmas trees are like cat-nip for the goats, who get vitamins, minerals, and natural intestinal worm prevention from munching on the unchanging leaves of holiday greenery.
Before you drop off your tree, it must be clean, with no decorations, tinsel, lights, or fake snow. No one wants to see the half digested remains of “Baby’s First Ornament” in a pile of goat droppings.
