SF’s Golden Gate Park May Get a Muni Subway Stop
Thanks to KRON4 for sharing the news that San Francisco is considering expanding the Muni subway service across the city.
SF is eying a new subway line to connect downtown to the Richmond neighborhood via Geary Boulevard, then it would to head to 19th Avenue before ending at Daly City BART station.
$800k in funding has been approved to study the project to determine its worthiness and decide what are the steps needed to complete the project.
Currently, Muni serves the west side of the city, but not via subway. The N line ceases to be a subway at Church Street, and the L line does as well when it exits the Twin Peaks tunnel.
Last year, I requested that the @sfcta study a subway connection through the West Side of San Francisco. Today we approved funding for the first phase and I am so excited! Grateful that my West Side collegues, Supervisors Chan and Mar, share the vision and excitement! pic.twitter.com/xemMKZOM80

Today, the long-held dream of bringing subway service to the west side took its first step forward.
This is just the start for this big, bold, transformative vision to improve transit across our neighborhoods, City, and region — a vision @myrnamelgar @conniechansf & I all share https://t.co/avQk2N5lnG
