SF’s Retro 24-Hour Diner Closes After 50 Years – Possibly Forever

The 50+ year old Silver Crest Donut Shop has been boarded up

San Francisco’s veteran diner, Silver Crest Donut Shop, has been a staple in the Bernal Heights neighborhood for over 50 years.

The retro diner, located at 340 Bayshore Blvd, serves up all day — and all night breakfast and more around the clock. The owners, George and Nina Giavris, have owned the restaurant since 1970 and have run the 24-hour diner ever since, famously, never closing until now.

According to Mission Local, the business has closed, at least temporarily, since Mr. Giavris has been hospitalized. The diner is sadly boarded up. Time will tell if the diner will reopen. We hope Mr. Giavris makes a full recovery!
