The Golden Gate Knights, a group of Star Wars fans and lightsaber battle experts will be running through their final practice class in advance of performances all over San Francisco next week when Star Wars VII opens.

The practice performance day takes place at LEVYStudio and we’re told the public is welcome to come watch behind the scenes how a lightsaber battle is choreographed, as long as you stay clear of any swinging sabers.

From Noon to 2:35pm they’ll be practicing. At about 2:35pm they’ll do a full Episode 7 performance recital.

Golden Gate Knights Final Class Rehearsal
Sunday, December 13, 2015 | Noon to 3pm
LEVYstudio, 19 Heron St., SF
FREE to watch

It’s almost time for our performance! Just ONE MORE class rehearsal to go! Flynn will be running us through our final dress rehearsal, so please come with your cosumes.

Last week, we were all hulled up in the studio due to the rain. A HUGE thank you to sharing rehearsal space with the class! Alain focused on basic sequences with footwork with the full step, half step, and the triangle sequence. By adding in flourishes, including pop transfers and single handed pops. He combined the two in an exercise of the free style flourishes with footwork across the studio floor.

This week, Alain will continue the focus on footwork, movement using flourshes, and how to incorporate flourishes into blocks and strikes. The more connected the movements are, the more a choreographed fight will translate to the audience. Niman, the sixth lightsaber form, combines each of the forms together, which ties in to our focus.

The Class schedule will continue as follows:

12:00 – 12:05 : Introduction
12:05 – 12:25 : Warm up and stretching
12:25 – 12:30 : Break
12:30 – 1:00 : Basic attacks and parries
1:00 – 1:05 : Break
1:05 – 2:35 : Class splits into Episode 7 Rehearsal and Niman Form practice
2:35 – 2:45 : Episode 7 Performance recital
2:45 – 2:50 : Meditation
2:50 – 3:00 : Class clean up

Hope to see you all there, and may the Force be with you!
