SF’s official block party takes over Golden Gate Park & the Great Highway | Sun 4/15

Sunday Streets is San Francisco’s official block party – a sorta-monthly roving neighborhood celebration where the streets are closed to vehicles so pedestrians, roller skaters, bicyclists, yoga classes… whoever can take over for an afternoon.

• JFK at 6th Ave.: Skatin’ Place
• JFK at 6th Ave.: Roller Soccer International
• JFK at 8th Ave.: Lindy in the Park
(lessons 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.; open dance 12 to 2 p.m.)

Bernice Rogers (aka JFK south) and MLK Drive:
• Kid’s activities hosted by Richmond District YMCA
• Purusha Yoga 1 to 3 p.m.

MLK between Lincoln and Bernice Rodgers:
• Pet programs
• Community Based Organization outreach tables
• Fins on the Hoof Food truck

Lincoln and Great Highway:
• Free bike rentals – ParkWide LLC
• Free Bike repairs – Sports Basement
• Red Cross medical tent

While returning to popular areas along established routes, 2012 events will extend into new neighborhoods and include more diverse program elements that highlight each neighborhood’s unique character and often overlooked community attractions and institutions.
