“Winchester Mystery House” Closed Again, Garden Tours Only

160-room Victorian mansion was set to open for “touchless” tours on Monday, but has shut down again

The beautiful but bizarre mansion, The Winchester Mystery House was scheduled to reopen on July 13th with a self-guided indoor “touchless” tour, but due to the new state guidelines on Monday have temporarily postponed these indoor tours, and instead offer garden tours.

They posted on Facebook and Twitter, that in accordance with the new state guidelines the self-guided tour will be postponed until further notice. Guests who have purchased tickets for the Self-Guided Mansion Tour will be refunded within the next 48 hours.

Sarah Winchester’s Garden Tours are Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 am- 4 pm until further notice. The new rules for this reopening will mean smaller groups, from two-to-six people, socially distanced and everyone wearing facemasks. Read more about their new health & safety guidelines.

Sarah Winchester’s Garden Tour is a self-guided and audio-led outdoor tour only. Visitors will be able to explore the beautiful Victorian Gardens while learning more about Sarah Winchester’s story and iconic mansion. The re-imagined outdoor tour will be a completely touch-less experience featuring 20 stops throughout four acres of the beautiful Victorian Gardens. Guests will be provided with a link to the audio guide and digital map accessible on their own devices upon check-in, Garden tours are $19.99 for adults.
