How to Volunteer in San Francisco

It helps others and it feels good. This should be your NEW New Year’s Resolution
By - posted 1/12/2016 No Comment

Every year, we start out feeling bold and excited, when in actuality we should be realistic and probably lower our self-expectations. We start out saying ridiculous things to ourselves like, “I’m going to lose weight,” “I will eat healthier,” “I will read more books,” etc., etc., you get the idea.

But we should probably start accepting the fact now (and after 20+ years of never sticking to these new goals for more than a week) that never really hold true to these.

Instead, pick one of these volunteering activities to jumpstart the first week of the new year. Include this in your resolutions: “I will volunteer one day this week.” And when you actually do one of these activities, you will have actually accomplished it, and you’ll end up feeling great!

There’s no need to even make a promise to yourself that you’re going to regularly volunteer, but if you can manage to, that’s even better. There are so many amazing organizations that need volunteers, and are happy with any help they can get.

Tenderloin Volunteer Fair

On Wednesday January 13, 2016, the Tenderloin Volunteer Fair is hosting a free event to help potential new volunteers (that’s you) learn about great organizations in the city. The event starts at 6:30PM with a reception followed by a presentation of local organizations at 7p.

Why San Francisco? San Francisco is filled with magic. It’s also filled with a lot of human feces, some yuppy tech-stars, and plenty of weirdos. But more importantly, it’s filled with a lot of love, and it’s the best place to be alive.
