City Lights at 60: Literary Event Series | SF

San Francisco’s City Lights is perhaps one of the most well known bookstores in the country, if not the world. It was fertile ground for the Beat Generation and continues to serve as the cornerstone of the city’s literary community.

City Lights at 60 is a special series of anniversary events in the bookstore and throughout the city hosted by some of the editors, writers, artists, and friends of City Lights.

Inside the Beat Generation | City Lights at 60: Literary Event Series | SF

Join Ronald K.L. Collins, David Skover, and Al Bendich in “Mania: The Story Of The Outraged & Outrageous Lives That Launched A Cultural Revolution,” an evening of discussion exploring the inner circle of artists and writers that formed the Beat Generation.

Experimenting with drink, drugs, jazz, and sex, Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs, and their coterie of friends helped shape the cultural revolution.
