City Lights at 60: Literary Event Series | SF
San Francisco’s City Lights is perhaps one of the most well known bookstores in the country, if not the world. It was fertile ground for the Beat Generation and continues to serve as the cornerstone of the city’s literary community.
City Lights at 60 is a special series of anniversary events in the bookstore and throughout the city hosted by some of the editors, writers, artists, and friends of City Lights.

Women of the Beat Generation | City Lights at 60: Literary Event Series | SFThis evening of women Beat poets will reverberate with the howls, raps and roars of Ruth Weiss and Joanna McClure, poets and peers of Ginsberg and Kerouac. Hosted by Brenda Knight, author of the American Book Award-winning Women of the Beat Generation, this special evening will highlight and celebrate the lives and work of these female iconoclasts.
