Bowen Zheng and Renzo DeCarlo have curated a captivating hour-long concert for clarinet and guitar duo featuring music from Argentina, Brazil, Italy, and Portugal that will enamor audiences. The performance features compositions by guitar legend Sergio Assad and the prolific Pedro Caldeira Cabral. Adding a touch of cinematic magic, they include music from well-known films by Ennio Morricone like the hauntingly beautiful “Gabriel’s Oboe”. The duo finishes with two movements from tango legend Astor Piazzolla’s blazing “Histoire du Tango.” Join them on this evocative musical journey!
Bowen Zheng is a classical guitarist with a diverse background in psychology and computer science born in Shangai, China. Having only begun studying music and classical guitar at a late age, he progressed quickly and his passionate hard work has allowed him to develop all aspects of of serious musicianship. He performs actively in the Baltimore, Maryland area in both solo and chamber concerts as well as outreach performances. Bowen received both Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music degrees in Classical Guitar Performance at the Peabody Institute.
Renzo DeCarlo is a Peruvian-American clarinetist and collaborator based in Baltimore, Maryland. An accomplished instrumentalist and international performer, Renzo maintains a diverse 21st century career in the arts including performing, teaching, arts administration and more. Renzo has performed with or holds substitute positions with the Tallahassee Symphony, Ocala Symphony, and Space Coast Symphony Orchestras, as well as orchestras at the Peabody Conservatory and Florida State University as a principal clarinetist.
